Everyday people all across the world are living out a life they are unhappy with. Now there is a group people who are held back by factors out of their control and that is quite sad to think about. However, there’s an even larger group of people who are under achieving in life due to factors that they can control. Here’s a list of controllable factors that are the main reasons why people don’t live up to their full potential.

  1. People having absolutely no hope for the future is something that is far too common in society. For some reason they can’t seem understand that they have the ability to accomplish things. This is most likely caused by a string of hardships experienced in the past that have left them feeling they’re part of a lower class. Accomplishing things will be impossible if you never believe you can actually accomplish the things you desire to do. The first step to achieving anything great is having a mindset that’ll allow you to make a real attempt at achieving said greatness.
  2. Procrastinating is an epidemic that needs to be tackled and taken out for good. It’s pretty easy to get distracted by something especially in the society that we live in which is flooded with content just waiting to be consumed. There are probably not too many things that are harder than fighting off the urge to procrastinate. Video games are just so fun and are a great place to hide in a virtual world where the real world doesn’t matter. Netflix just puts out amazing content and binging the new season of your favourite show seems like a great afternoon. Going out drinking is just seeming so much more appealing than accomplishing the task at hand. Procrastination is great and people certainly do need escapism in their lives, but it’s gotten excessive. Next time you get the urge to procrastinate attempt to push through or at least make an attempt at multitasking.
  3. For some reason shortcuts are something that appeal to almost everyone especially when an attempt to generate an income is the task at hand. Here’s the thing though there is NO SHORTCUTS you’re never going to make millions of dollars easily it just doesn’t happen. Unless you get some insanely lucky break and magically win the lottery, you’re going to have to put the work in. Winning the lottery is very improbable though so you better prepare for the long haul and accept that you have a lot of hard work to put in before you can accomplish your goals. You have to be willing to put the required amount of work in nobody ever accomplished anything great in ridiculously small amounts of time.
  4. Sorry to break it to you but Jeff Bezos isn’t the reason why you don’t feel successful. Yeah, he hoards boatloads of wealth and has insane amounts of money but that doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty of more wealth to go around. People blame the rich, their friends, the government, people around them, their competitors, their teams, and everyone else other than themselves. Accountability is key though and you need to accept that you are the one who controls your future. Stop placing blame on everyone around you and accept responsibility for where your life is. Don’t hate the player or the game hate yourself.
  5. Don’t let the opinion of other people ever stop you from doing something that you want to do. Even if you do fail at the task you’re attempting, and others judge you it doesn’t matter. That loss is your loss and if someone judges you for coming up short on an attempt at bettering your life then that says a lot more about them than it does about you. Fuck what your parents, family, friends, co-workers, peers, neighbours, or anyone else thinks shoot for the moon and make an attempt at accomplishing your dreams.
  6. You should always think through things before you do them there is no doubt about that. However, there comes a point quickly where you’re thinking too much when what you should be doing is executing. At some point you need to actually do something rather than think about it. Nobody ever got healthy by thinking about vegetables you have to actually go eat them and the same goes for accomplishing your goals.

In conclusion, if any of these things are holding you back you need to find a way to overcome them as soon as possible. Take accountability for the things happening in your life. Yes, there will be uncontrollable circumstances but in most cases it’s you and you alone behind the wheel. If you procrastinate, overthink, look for non-existent shortcuts, are pessimistic, blame others or care about what others think then it will be a million times harder to reach your desired destination in life.
